“Black Box” (new on Amazon Prime)

Recently released on Amazon Prime is the psychological thriller “Black Box,” starring Mamoudou Athie, Phylicia Rashad and Amanda Christine. Co-produced by Jason Blum (Blumhouse Studios) and Jay Ellis (“Insecure,” “Escape Room”).  Athie plays Nolan, a man who suffers from amnesia after surviving a horrible car accident in which he loses his wife.  For the sake of his daughter, he agrees to participate in an experimental treatment to try to regain his memory but may lose his identity in the process.

Cleveland Latino Restaurant Week (October 10-16)

Today is the last day to indulge in the Fourth Annual Cleveland Latino Restaurant Week.  This year, 13 restaurants are participating, including Mallorca, Half Moon Bakery, Barroco, Blue Habanero and The Campus Grille Latin. The artists participating in the temporary outdoor art exhibition Art at a Distance will be featured at a Pop-up event at Platform Brewery’s Phunkenship location, 3135 Sackett Avenue, Saturday, October 17 from 2-5 pm.


Art at a Distance Pop-up at Phunk Market – October 17

Art at a Distance is a temporary outdoor art exhibition featuring 11 local artists. Their work is mounted on the fences around Lincoln West High School and Meyer Pool (3202 West 30th Street, and 30 West Street, respectively) through November 21, 2020.  On October 17, a pop-up Phunk Market will take place at Platform Brewery’s Phunkenship, 3135 Sackett Avenue, from 2-5PM featuring works from the Art at a Distance artists.  Enjoy live music, art activities and a Census/voter pop-up from Metro West Community Development Organization and the Cuyahoga Board of Elections.

local performers selected for the first Backline program in Cleveland.



Backline Cleveland Mini-Concert at GlenVillage (October 22)

Music accelerator program Backline has announced the four local artists selected for its first program in Cleveland: Whitney Chantel, YFL Kelvin, Congrez and SPB Benz. Backline,a program of nationally ranked accelerator gener8tor, opened in Cleveland earlier this year and is run by Sean Oatz (“Oatz”). The artists selected for the first Cleveland program received a $20,000 grant and are participating in a 12-week accelerator program designed to advance their careers. A mini concert to kick off the program will be held on the plaza, off of GlenVillage, 1400 E. 105th Street on Thursday October 22, 2020 from 2PM to 4PM. The inaugural Backline Cleveland cohort as well as Councilman Kevin Conwell and Footprints will be performing.   



The Empowerment Collective Vision will host the Cleveland Minority Economic Festival Saturday, October 24 from 10AM-7PM at Front Stage Multiplex, 3492 Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights.

The Cleveland Minority Economic Festival is brought to you by the Empowerment Collective Vision and takes place Saturday, October 24 at Front Stage Multiplex, 3492 Mayfield Road, from 10AM-7PM. This family-friendly event is geared towards making Greater Clevelanders aware of local black entrepreneurs. Enjoy a day of fun, education, entertainment, comedy, food, sip and paint and much more! $5 admission.  Kids 10 and under are free! Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
